I'm devestated. Our freezer has malfunctioned, it's been bad for a while but it's well and truly gone.
We can't afford a new one. This week is so tight we can't even afford a shop and I was banking on using the food we had in already.
There's a whole bag of frozen chicken pieces that have defrosted. I'm gutted, this was to feed us for half of the week. My question really is they've been in the freezer for two weeks, during which time it's been a bit dodgy but most frozen stuff has stayed well frozen. They were however defrosted when I took everything out tonight.
They don't smell particularly bad. I have them in the oven now to cook so they're not wasted but I'm so worried. I'm pregnant and I have a 4 year old. My common sense tells me they should be okay as chicken can last quite a few days in a fridge when not frozen, so these in an environment still a lot colder than a fridge should be okay...right?
Otherwise we have a tiny bit of fish, 6 sausages and a bag of chips along with tuna and baked beans to feed us for the week. :(
I can't stand food waste. It's really upsetting me to think I will have to chuck it. I've already thrown a whole giant drawer of my frozen fruit and veg stock as that had defrosted and leaked making it stink to high heaven.
Any ideas?
