Hi all,

after ages of not ive got into cooking again. I made roast peppers filled with cusscuss and roast veg with mozarella- they were lovely.

I have a jar of pesto verde (shop bought) once opened how long can i keep it for?

Could I use passata in a tomatoe soup recipe instead of lots of toms?
im just looking at what ive got in at the moment rather than buying anything in. Oh but if i could afford goats cheese, hollumi etc...

Thanks

An open jar is normally about 3 days I think. I wouldn't use Passata for tomato soup I think the texture would be odd - you'd get away with a tin of tomatoes though. What else do you have in you could use the passata

I keep open jars of pesto for at least a week.
If it looks OK, smell it. If it smells OK, taste it. If it tastes OK it's probably OK.

Agree with Tiredness, usually pesto keeps ages in the fridge, you can tell if it's off as it will grow actual mould, there's no missing it!

Obviously, the flavour deteriorates the longer it's been open.
