Leaky salmon

WWYD or rather what should I do?

I have odd food issues and constantly worry about food poisioning, I ordered some raw salmon with my food shopping and the pack has leaked a bit in the shopping bag, is it still okay to eat and if so do I need to eat it quicker than it's date (wednesday)?

Feel free to call me a twat, I am aware that I am one over food Smile

Does it smell ok?

GobblersKnob · 15/07/2012 14:29

It smells very fishy, but samon always smells quite strong doesn't it?

Me too! Drives my DP nuts Smile

Do you think the packet was open when you got it? If you do, I'd take it back.

If not, I'd class it as open and eat it within the specified time on the packet - once open use within 48 hours or whatever.

If it was bagged up at the fish counter, then it's not in any kind of protective atmosphere, and should theoretically be safe to eat up to the sell-by date. However I would eat it today or at latest tomorrow, because supermarket use-by dates seem over-optimistic for fresh fish, and I've often found it has gone smelly before the use-by date.

I'd be more sorried about what it might have leaked over tbh.

It's just going to panic me so I've phoned them and they've refunded me.

Can't stop washing my hands now, worried that I might have got some in my mouth, from not washing my hands wel enough the first time.

Am such an idiot over things like this.
