Anyone made a cupcake bouquet?

Just seen these referred to on another thread and think they may be the answer to a tricky present dilemma. Has anyone made one? How difficult is it? Do you really need to put silk flowers in between the cakes? Any tips to make it look professional (given that I've never piped a rose before in my life)? Celophane? etc

  1. Put oasis in a plant pot, it won't fit that well so you have to trim it, wedge little bits in and stick them with masking tape. Weight the base of the pot with a few pebbles from the garden. If you want a nice, smooth shape, trim away excess with a knife. Put tissue paper over the oasis.
  2. Work out how many cakes to make by putting the cases on the oasis. Bake a few extra in case of disaster.
  3. Bake the cakes, then ice them like this
4) Add glitter, sprinkles, whatever you fancy. 5)Stick two cocktail sticks into the bottom of each cake, then fix them to the oasis. 6) If you want, stick bay leaves in the bouquet, or fake leaves from the poundshop. You can also buy things like butterflies on sticks that florists use. Buy these from a craft shop or ebay. 7) Wrap in cellophane. Buy cellophane fom ebay if you can, florists are very pricey.

Try this method made with plastic cups I've found it so much easier than the oasis method, and much easier to dismantle and eat!

Genius idea with the cups. That would be serious "added value" to cupcakes for presents, with very little faff. Marking my place so that I can find this thread when I need to do one!
