freezing buttercream

I have made to much buttercream icing (just butter and icing sugar-no milk).
How long will it keep in the fridge or should/can i freeze it?

Hi Firstupbestdressed. i made some the other day which isnt neededed till next thurs, i put it in the freezer, i used it today for some cupcakes and it was fine,no different at all.

buttercream will keep inthe fridge for as long as the butter is in date, so make a note of that as you make it

If you need to keep it longer than that, it will keep in the freezer, well wrapped, for about 6 months (not that it ever stays in there that long!!)
