So does anywhere have any nice ice cream on offer at the moment?

Sainsbos had some Cornish vanilla half price earlier that I ran past cos it's fattening

Amazing chocolate homemade ice cream that doesn't require an ice cream machine. At our house this is chosen over B&J every time - even better if you smoosh in cookie dough, brownie bits, etc...

One 410g can of sweetened condensed milk
200g dark chocolate, broken up
300ml double cream
1 tsp vanilla extract

Melt together the condensed milk and the chocolate over a low heat. Set aside and leave to cool.
Meanwhile, whisk the cream with the vanilla and 3 tablespoons of iced water until it forms soft peaks.
Combine the cream with the chocolate mixture, pour it into a Tupperware, pop it in the freezer and, in about twelve hours? time, enjoy amazing chocolate ice cream.

that recipe sounds great, we actually have an ice cream maker too but hasn't been used in ages Blush

Huckleberrys Blondie Caramel Craze is delicious - was on offer last week at Ocado for £3

summerintherosegarden - do you melt the chocolate and milk in a pan, or a bowl over water in a pan? Thanks. Would really like to try this!

Also, you mention cookie dough. Not to ask a silly question, but do you just make up a cookie dough and then put it in, or do you have to par-bake it? Thanks again!

Sorry OP for hijacking your thread - I was also going to say that Sainsburys have Kellys Cornish Ice Cream at half price (£1.99 I think) - 'tis very nice :o

Sorry, didn't make it totally clear! Just melt them in a pan over a low heat and stir every so often.

For the cookie dough - I just make it up and put it in raw, but if you are worried about raw eggs then you could bake it and put in bits of the cookies, or you could of course make ice cream sandwiches!

Thanks, will try this out soon....although DP isn't really a fan of chocolate ice cream. Love the idea of doing my own cookie dough ice cream!

Uberly I'm not a massive fan of shop bought choc ice cream either but this I love, so might be worth a try with your DP! If it's the sicklyness that puts him off try making it with 70%+ chocolate - I did it once with 85% and it was absolutely sublime.
