DD has just been given a Herman.

Apparently I she has to 'look after him' and 'feed him' and in 10 days or so I'll she'll be able to turn 'him' into bread.

He is bubbly and smells rather nicely of beer.

2 questions:
Is he actually going to turn into something that will produce bread
Can I use soya milk

Mine turned into a nice cake filled with cherries, I added loads of them. Don't know about the soya milk sorry. Enjoy

The apple cake is yum but the cherry one sounds worth a bash.

I got given 2 within the same week - kept one but made the other into a cake that day - nom nom nom

We have the instructions but with a different recipe Toffee, that one sounds delicious though.

The second link is great, just what I needed to know - and it uses spelt flour which is even better.

We did ours with dates and grated carrot in place of the dried fruit and apple components that our instructions stipulated.

It turned into a very nice, long-lasting fruit loaf.

However, it tasted exactly like a very nice, long-lasting fruit loaf that I could have made in about an hour and a half without having something suspect festering on my worktop for a week.
