Iced Biscuits - Tips and Ideas

My sister in law has asked me to make iced biscuits for her 5 year old daughter's birthday party. My questions are:

  1. Is the Nigella recipe for butter biscuits ( Domestic Goddess ) any good? ie do they taste good and most importantly hold their shape?
  2. What shapes would be fun for little girls? ( I have a boy)
  3. What is the easiest and most effective method of icing? I want to make a good go of this but have had disasters before!

Betty Crocker ready made icing- you will not look back! Spreads well, tastes nice. (haven't dared read the ingredients on the back though) and keeps well in the fridge. I usually have some and occasionally spread it on a biscuit (store bought) and then pop some sprinkles on it. The kids then think I am truly wonderful Grin
