Urgent cheesecake question, plase!

Argh, am doing cheesecake for my dad's birthday tomorrow (we're going to have a picnic, so wanted something relatively light/not a proper bday cake). I often find plain cheesecake bit bland, so thought I would add some orange peel (hmm, what do you call it, not raw, glazed?), which I've made before and liked BUT I need something to put on top of the cheesecake.

Original plan was strawberries but not sure that will go with orange peel...what do you think? What other fruit/topping would work well?

And also, do you think I could forego vanilla? (please say yes, as I haven't got any)

TIA

Yes, it will be ok without vanilla. You could add some orange juice to make it more orangey. As for the top, I'd just dust with icing sugar or put some dark orange flavours chocolate shavings on top.

I think strawberries would be nice.

Or drizzle with a dark chocolate glaze?

Leave out the damn vanilla!

The vanilla wouldn't work well with the orange so I'd leave it out and I'd grate plain chocolate over the top.

Ok, thank you Smile Maybe no vanilla, orange peel, with strawbs and some dark choc shavings on top?

My sister just suggested doing plain and choc swirl cheesecake with strawberries on top...sounds nice, I guess...I've just really set my heart on that orange peel for some reason Hmm

Argh, choices, choices.
