Cake Mixers

Hi all,

I'm looking to buy myself a new cake mixer.

I don't want to spend more than £150 ideally so I know that rules out the Kitchen Aids and Kenwood Chef type mixers.

I've been looking at the Andrew James and the other options on Amazon. I did actually buy an Andrew James mixer last year but found that you had to keep stopping it to scrape the sides of the bowl. With my current one (a Breville) I can do this while it's still going, but it's an old-fashioned one with the two whisks that don't always reach the bottom of the bowl and it's much slower.

Mine also doesn't have a splashguard so putting in icing sugar is a nightmare!

Can anyone suggest a good mixer where it doesn't leave the food up the sides of the bowl and is within my budget. It also needs to have a splashguard.

Thank you!

You can get a Kenwood for (almost) that price!
Amazon for £159.99 free delivery

Lakeland Sale started today. They are selling the kenwood Prospero for £154 and free delivery.

Hi Moonbells,

Thank you for the info.

Do you know if they have all the facilities I mention. I do quite fancy a Kenwood... Smile

The Prospero has a splashguard; think it might be optional on the Chef.

I think you have to scrape all of them down at some point. Certainly you do with my ancient Chef.

This is what they have on the Prospero:
4.3 litre stainless steel bowl with splash guard.
Whisk, ?K? beater & dough hook attachments.
700ml food processor with 3 blades ? thick, thin and grater.
1.5 litre liquidiser.
Citrus press.

There's a whole thread (or two) on the Prospero (Woodpussies is the second, can't remember where or what the other one was).
