I want to get a bottle of good wine for someone as part of a gift, ideally £15 (or less if possible? Grin) red or white.

Please let me know what you love even if it's a bit over my budget

Thanks

i have just had a wonderful bottle of Maranges, which is a new Burgundy appellation. I bought it in france recently with a range of other burgundies but you can gett it here, it was about 25 euros i think

i love burgundy, but they are high ticket, but a nice Chinon or a decent Pouilly Fuisse or fume if they like white?

I've also had some lovely Greek wines recently - truly amazing. I think Waitrose sell one for about 9 pounds 'tsagakis' or similar. you'd be doing them a good turn!

otcha they sound great thanks, I'll have a look at the first few you mention.
Unfortunately we dont have a waitrose over here.

Anymore suggestions?

Any NZ Sauvignon blanc Smile

Rioja is usually quite good value, so a £15 bottle should be decent e.g. 2007 reserva.

Agree with otcha re pouilly fuisse/fume.

Avoid bordeaux - hard to actually get a decent one for
