Meatball sauce please?

Dcs like the meatballs I made last time but hated my sauce! Large family so pasta based dishes r so easy for me! Any suggestions to go with my meatballs? Dcs r fussy, so no chilli suggestions!! Just a tasty sause please!

Did you want a tomato based sauce?Roast tomatoes, red onions and garlic in some olive oil, bung in a pan with a tin of chopped toms and add salt, pepper and sugar, I also then go rooting through the cupboard and will put in whatever else I think might go, basil or oregano etc, heat through and then blend with a stick blender. I've found that unless I roast the tomatoes and onions the sauce has no real depth. Used to live with a chef and he always put a teaspoon of sugar in any dish where he was using tinned chopped tomatoes to counteract the bitterness.

Oh that sounds like a much better idea! Hadn't thought of roasting first! Will give that a go tonight! I just found it too runny before and not very flavoursome! thankyou
