Does anyone have any good fish recipes that children might like? My two boys definitely don't eat enough fish - they only seem to like fish fingers - SIGH - but would love to try some other ideas if anyone has any suggestions...
thanks!

How old are your boys? DH and DS have agreed they're going to make "pirate fish" this week. (Don't think DH has any idea what it actually is yet, possibly haddock in a cheese sauce?).

DS (3.5yo) is excited about the idea of cooking and pirates, so hopefully he'll eat more than the single small mouthful he had last time!

I'll let you know if it's a success ...

You could try home-made fishcakes, they are easy to make and not too intimidatingly fishy.

Just bake a couple of potatoes and when they are cool mix the flesh with two tins of salmon. Then dip in flour egg and breadcrumbs and let them sit in the fridge for an hour or so to firm up. I also add some chopped spring onions and a pince of cayenne pepper, but you can adapt them to suit you.

You could also get your boys to help you make them, if you can bear the mess.

My kids love fish but will not eat fishcakes (or cheese sauce).... We generally have them just plainly grilled. Would they eat that?

Nothing wrong with fish fingers though - you can fish-finger any fish yourself. Try different types of fish in finger form?

Or have them in sushi. Grin

My kids older but also fussy, but they love this fish recipe, try it and see, no breadcrumbing required and quite easy to do really.. let me know if it works, no potato involved either, good for adults too...

My DD loves fish. Her favourite is when we do it on the BBQ with just a bit of lemon. A few oven chips on the side and she's in heaven! She hates FF and fish cakes weirdly. Kedgeree is a good one to try too if they like rice and peas.

Fish pie? Always goes down well here - I use white fish, smoked fish, and prawns.

Would they eat a fishy curry? Chowder?

My DDs love smoked salmon through pasta with garlic and herb Philly, leeks and broccoli. It's a favourite here

I made mine years ago this - basically fish, rice, leeks.

Another quick favourite was salmon in cheese sauce served with couscous
