Just used one at a friend's for the first time and was converted! Now I want to buy one and am wondering what features to look for. Is an autoswitch important? Should I get one which lets you brown the food in the pot on the hob? What size should I get for a family of four? The Tesco value one got great reviews - should I just go for that??

ours is 3.5 litres for family of 5. we have low, auto and high. i don't bother with browning. i'd just go for something thats cheap, with the above 3 settings. mine was about £20 around 25 years ago. if tesco one has low/high settings and its cheap that should do

I've a crock pot (massive) and I love it but also recently bought a Tesco £9 one that looks identical only smaller and it is fantastic, high low and heat I think. I prefer it most times as it is much easier to clean, fits in washing up basin and will happily feed a family of four. The larger one I use more for soups and I know I am going to freeze large portions anyway. I am very impressed with the Tesco one :)
