Chard help please

Lovely neighbour has given us a huge bunch of chard but I have never even SEEN chard before, let alone cooked it! I have a Hugh Fearnley Whatshisname recipe for a chard and new potato curry, for which I have all the ingredients - has anybody made that before? Or might it be nice in a pasta bake of some sort, or a gratin? I probably have enough to do two meals with it.

Please help!

He's also given us a big bunch of asparagus - any ideas for that other than the usual risotto/roasted?

If asparagus cut today, just boil and butter or hollandaise sauce. Yum, lucky you! Chard - the stems cook slower than the leaves so cut them out. Treat leaves like spinach (so yes, gratin/curry great ideas) treat stems like celery - braise in white wine/stock, sprinkle parmesan?

Thank you. Lucky me, indeed. :) The asparagus was cut yesterday and is fairly thick, so think it probably needs to be 'in' something, rather than the main thing.

The curry recipe has the stalks cut up and cooked earlier then the leaves added at the last minute, like spinach.
