Absolute easy peasy recipe anyone for topping cupcakes ?

Ok ive got 36 fairy cakes and was going to just ice 12 re 12 white and 12 blue for tomorrow.
However i love the look of the toppings on cupcakes and wondered if anyone has a really easy recipe for such a topping. It looks like some sort of buttercream ? Can i do colours and wouod i need an icing bag thing-i can get one ?
Must be really simple ! x

3 oz butter
6 oz icing sugar
A drop of vanilla extract

Whisk it all up - you can buy disposable icing bags from sainsburys!

I do
250g butter
500g icing sugar
4tblspns of milk
2tspns of vanilla extract (or strawberry is nice)

Whip it up. I find the wide neck icing bags easier to get nice swirls with x

Just a word of warning, if you put enough red in to make red icing (as opposed to pink), it can taste a bit odd.
