Calling all bakers, I need to make a coconut and cherry cake help

So it is my mums birthday on Tuesday and I would like to make her a cake. No problems there except I'd like to make it with coconut and cherries and possibly a suitable buttercream topping and I haven't a trusted recipe. Can you help? Tia

I only have a loaf recipe here which I top with vanilla buttercream and sprinkle toasted coconut on top.

Thanks blueberry, do you think it could be done in a round or square tin? I'm guessing I would need to increase for the square one....

I don't see why not. if you are making 2 layers I would be tempted to make 1 batch for each layer and fill with buttercream.

Tbh was just going to put buttercream on tge top.
