english dumplings:
you need atora suet, salt, self-raising flour, enough cold water to make a stiff dough.

you can add chopped herbs, or bits of bacon if you like.

there used to be a recipe on the side of the atora packet. I judge the amounts by eye, so not much help for a recipe Im afraid!
but, mix everything up, and shape into little balls, then put them immediately into simmering soup/stew and cook for around 25 minutes. They do expand quite a bit, so make them smaller than you'd think.
hth?

for mine as taught by my mum!

take a normal sized cereal spoon, and u put in

2.5 spoons suet
4 heaped of SR flour
normally I add water until it's done in a trickle.

comes out perfect every time.

coupla handfuls suet, same amount flour, salt pinch, some herbs if you wish and add water until it all sticks together in a big ball. then make little balls, use more flour if it's sticky dump in simmering stew for 25 mins. They are fluffier with more suet and denser/harder with more flour. Works every time for me. I like mine stodgy...yum
