Falafel

I'm making falafel tonight from a recipe that I found online. I've got them to the 'meatball like' stage. The recipe tells me to deep fry them, but we are eating healthily at the moment so I would prefer to bake them. Any ideas how long I should bake them for? Thanks :)

I've tried shallow frying them and it wasn't near as nice as they are when they've been deep fried.

Reckon baking isn't gonna be that good either.

20-30 minutes.
I do slow cooker falafel

Hmm I was afraid that would be the case. :(

You could roast them (so coat in oil before baking) but if you ust bake them they won't be that nice Sad

X-post. Thanks netto. That slow cooker recipe looks great. I'll have to try that next time :)

Spray in olive oil from an oil spray then roast. Falafels don't have to be deep fried. Just make sure that you serve them with the right accompaniments - pitta, lettuce, olives, tahini sauce and chilli sauce. Mmmm! Grin

I only ever bake mine, yes, they have a different texture and are drier but they are still nice. Gas 6 on an oiled sheet for about 20 mins turning once.

Sorry didn't see these other replies... thanks :) . I heated a little bit of oil (seaoned with salt and pepper) in an oven tray then added the falafels and cooked for 25 mins. They were lovely, even DH who is a proper carnivore thought so!

I only ever bake mine - and they are always yummy. Deep frying makes me feel ill!

I fried mine the other night in two Tbsp of olive oil for 3 mins on each side, they were lovely! Smile
