It's fabulous - a firm fave in our house when I can be arsed to make it. Super-lemony and the lemon curd is really easy, well worth making your own. Now you just need to stock up on plenty of eggs and lemons!

TheCunningStunt · 19/05/2012 08:17

How was it grockle?

Save some for me. I've made it lots of times and love it

TheCunningStunt · 19/05/2012 09:28

Doing it today. Is lemon curd really that easy? Doesn't it split or scramble?

Trust in saint delia, follow her instructions and you'll be fine

TheCunningStunt · 19/05/2012 17:38

I made the lemon curd today, am making the rest of the cake tomorrow so it's as fresh as possible for the recipient....curd is delicious. I shall never ever buy it again.

We've eaten it! It's lovely.TBH, I wouldn't bother cutting each cake in half. Next time, I'd just sandwich the 2 bits together with lemon curd and ice the top.

PeppermintCream · 21/05/2012 09:47

But grockle you have to cut the cake in half so that you can add even more lemon curd - yum

TheCunningStunt · 21/05/2012 10:02

Well.....I thought my cake tins were the right size. The cake mix seemed quite dry to me, but I spooned in half. It was spread thinly...obv bigger cake tins than I thought. So I piled it all in one. It took 10 mins longer to cook and could only be cut in half. I spread most of the lemon curd on it though(saved enough for supper tooBlush). And it was delish. The cake was melt in the mouth...it was very lemony and went down a treat. Def a keeper.
