Keeping sugar paste

I'm making a birthday cake in a couple of weeks and plan to make the figures in advance of making the cake so they can dry (thanks to the advice here!).

How do you keep the sugar paste in good condition for when you use it next? I anticipate a few days at least between opening the packets and completing the cake. When I've done this before the sugar paste goes hard very quickly and appears unusable. Previously I've wrapped it up in cling film and put it in a plastic box, but this hasn't worked very well.

wrapped really well it should last - I keep mine for months weeks after opening and only chuck it out when it has set solid it is out of date.

You should be able to keep it wrapped in a box. Try freezer bags, they're less likely to let the air in. Force all the air out before closing then keep in a biscuit tin or similar. If you find its gone hard when unwrapping it, then just trim the edges off, the inside should be fine

OK, thanks for the tips. I'll wrap it up as best I can and trim off any hard bits!
