DS 6 months has been on solids for 6 months. Tonight he had salmon, mashed potato and asparagus. Steamed salmon with a little butter and water. Then used the juices and some formula milk to mash. Tasted yummy. Also try sorbet. My baby loves loves his fruit puree ice cubes softened to make sorbet

I used to cook up little batches of crushed root veggies, butternut squash, potatoes, peas and things like chicken in white sauce and then freeze in ice-cube trays. When time for supper I'd take out a cube or two of each, heat through with a knob of butter and serve.

My own DD was an early feeder too & I pretty much did as Cogito posts, but without the chicken -

I used to empty mashed veg ice cubes into freezer bags & mix up recipes as I went, I also made up cheese sauce with breast milk & froze that too, that helps with recipes, broccolli & cauli cheese was always a favourite - along with fruit purees & porridge for puddings too

I wouldn't give meat, fish, eggs, wheat, peppers, any pulses or mushrooms so young - I was advised by a good friend who specialises in alt health care for babies against that, just stick to good veg

later on I cooked rice & added the veg purees to rice - brocolli, sweet potato & butternut squash are all especially good sources of vits etc

Oh & I found out that if you thoroughly clean them & follow "Bottling" procedure, - sterilise with boiling water & microwave & fill imediately & pop lid back on - you can reuse baby food jars to make your own baby foods that will reseal themselves, travel well & last a while too :)
