Shredded wheat question...

Do any of the major supermarkets do an 'own brand' version of shredded wheat? I cant find it at Sainsburys / Aldi but dont go to the others often.
The One Show did a piece on hidden sugar in cereals last night and led me to look at the content of different types. Shredded wheat is extremely low with weetabix a close second. We already buy own brand weetabix (which is great but boring every day!) but Nestle shredded wheat is soooo expensive in comparison. Does anyone know of an 'own brand' alternative.
PS I was shocked at the high sugar content in things like All Bran....(maybe shocked is too strong a word but you get my drift!)

Waitrose do a version of shredded wheat minis with an apricot or cranberry filling in the centre. Given the filling, it might be higher in sugar than you want. Also, it fools no one in our house and DD will only eat the branded version! It is the only thing she is fussy about though so I let her off.

how did porridge and ready brek fair in the sugar ratings?

don't know of an own brand shreded wheat - the little shreddies are full of sugar....these companies have to hook the customers young.

We do a mixture of beans on toast, egg on toast, shreddies, porridge, ready brek and then rotate again weetbix is added in to

Didnt check readybrek as it doesnt fill us up!!!
Assume porridge oats are low but didnt check as we always end up throwing sultanas and banana in it anyway!!

porridge oats as they are has no added sugar..but if you have mcdonalds porridge it has more sugar than a snickers bar and 11 weird ingrediants added..?

Yep sainsburys do 'mini wheats' which are shreddies sized shredded wheat. Dd loves them! Don't buy the fruit ones - full of sugar.

No I meant the mini-wheats as FaceCrack says. I know that their Mini Wheats are sugar free as my lovely Dad used to eat them and he was diabetic.

Waitrose do own brand shredded wheat, in store at least (shredded malted wheats) and they are nice. £1.45 a packet.

Sainsbos & Tesco both have mini shredded wheat on buy one get one free this week.

Yep, Aldi do it. as MegBusset says. Think it's called 'Wheat Shreds'. I buy it every week! I've also bought own brand from Sainsbury's in the past.

my friend gets the mini ones from aldi too and I can't tell the difference between those and Nestles. She's diabetic and says as far as she knows, shredded wheat is the only cereal without sugar.

Lidl sell their own brand Crownfield mini shredded wheats plain, also apricot and blueberry. I boycott Nestlé products too and was really missing shredded wheat, still missing the large pillows because even Nestlé's own mini wheats don't taste the same as the large ones.
