I've just made an Apple and Walnut cake in a mad dash so dh would have some cake to take away with him this weekend. I washed up and sat down with a nice cuppa only to realise I haven't greased the sodding tin.

Am I going to ene up with a pile of crumbs?

Arghhhhh! Rant over Grin

I'm no expert, but I would let it cool in the tin for the recommended time and maybe go around it with a pallet knife to loosen it a bit. Is it in a loose bottomed or springform tin?

I think it should be ok, just go carefully when you turn it out.

It is a spring form, so might be ok.

The cooker is beeping at me so I suppose it's time to take a peek.

Dont panic! As Mishy said, let it cool completely then go round the tin with a knife and spring it out on the base, then go between the base and the cake. Ta Da!

There'll be enough grease in the cake mix to stop it sticking too badly.

As above, just run a knife round and then pop the tin open. It'll be fine

It came out well, It had 3 grated apples and 250ml sunflower oil so was quite wet iykwim?

DH is working away and has taken a chunk with him. The only slight slip up is I wanted to finish it last night because he was going so early this morning so I put the filling (buttercream with a bit of philli and a lot of golden syrup - surprisingly yummy!) in whilst it was a bit warm and it's oozed a bit. Good job it's only for scoffing and not public display!

Thanks for the advice, I was thinking about scraping it out and greasing the tins until you lot came along with your wise words!
