I have a sponge recipe (lovingly passed down from grandmother) which my mother swore by - but I've been mostly swearing at
I have loose bottomed cake tons about 1" high, and maybe about 8" wide.
I'd like recommendations for a recipe (nice and simple as I'm a relative novice) that will produce a moist chocolate sponge to be sandwiched with chocolate buttercream icing (with sprinkles on the top).
I don't think I'd like it as light as the Victoria sponge (it's a bit airy for what I have in mind) I'm looking for something a bit more dense.
Anyone help?
