I tend to steam them for about 8-10mins, but I like brussels fairly firm.

5 minutes
and don't make a cross in the bottom or they'll overcook

GeorginaA · 13/02/2006 14:52

(depends on their size too, obviously)

Blandmum · 13/02/2006 14:54

My mother used to cook them for 30 minutes!

I'm a 5-10 min girl myself, depending on the size

Thanks. Have already cut the bottom so will have to keep an eye on them.

I have prepared them for dh to put on when he gets in from work as ds has a swimming lesson. I think he'll manage the rest!

we steam them - until they are a bit soft when you stick a knife in them - about 10 mins I guess (depending on size).

mb: my mother told me to steam them for 30 mins on Christmas day... I compromised with 20mins but ugh, they were dire!

I'm sure my mother used to be a good cook when I was a kid...

Ten minutes - not a second longer. Less if they're small.

bramblina · 13/02/2006 15:42

Sarah Kennedy (radio 2) says put them on in April, they'll be ready for Christmas. Ongoing joke in our house now. Sorry no proper advice just thought I'd try to spread a little bit of laughter...
