Has anyone else made this? I just did and it did not solidify and looks very very oily. Not happy.

Do you need smoked cod's roe for it?
I bought ordinary the other week as it was reduced in Morrison's and then stuck it in the freezer with no idea what to do with it.

Not that, that's any help to you of course!

JustFab · 28/04/2012 16:39

LOL.

I think it was smoked but I couldn't get fresh so bought tinned. Maybe that was why.

I didn't know you could buy tinned cod's roe.
Again, of no help, but I love taramasalata and would like to have a go making it.

Hopefully some cod's roe expert will be along to help us!

I'm thinking of trying this recipe though it doesn't use much.
I've quite a big piece of it.

NettoSuperstar · 28/04/2012 18:01

When I say a big piece, maybe it's a whole roe?
Clearly, I know fuck all!

JustFab · 28/04/2012 18:33

Lots of photos of cod roe

I thought it might help with the sizing.

I don't like Lesley Waters but this recipe seems better than Delia's.

I seem to have a whole roe then.
That looks a good recipe, I'll try it.

NettoSuperstar · 18/05/2012 11:59

It was not a success Hmm

JustFab · 18/05/2012 12:47

Oh no!

Maybe both of us should stick to buying it.

Yep, will stick with buying from now on.
Still though, you don't know if you don't try, but I've no wish to eat anything tasting like fishy bins again!

Netto, I am going to try those biscuits & gravy from your blog! I have always read about it in all the American books i have read, really interested to try it out.

NettoSuperstar · 18/05/2012 15:59

It's surprisingly delicious.
Expat was very jealous that she didn't get to try it.
It's a breakfast dish in the US, but we had it for dinner so I just chucked green beans on the side.
Really easy too, and cheapo sausages worked really well.
I want to try chicken fried steak with the gravy next, AKA heart attack on a plate!
I'm doing more American food tomorrow.

BlackAffronted · 18/05/2012 17:14

Looking forward to seeing it!

NettoSuperstar · 18/05/2012 17:19

Inspired by you, though different recipes.
Ribs, onion rings, coleslaw, maybe corn on the cob if bank account allows!
Sort of like your pulled pork meal.
