Hi all, want to make a trifle at the weekend but we don't have any sherry and tbh if I bought a bottle it wouldn't get drunk.
So, is anything else good to use? We have port, vodka, martini, whiskey etc etc will prob use forest fruits so nice and dark.

I was going to say amaretto, but I'm not sure it will go with forest fruits. Port would probably be OK, but may need a bit of extra sugar?

Hmm amaretto sounds good though what sort of fruit do you think?

I've never used port but out of your list that's what I would go for. I don't think I would try vodka.

i am sure nigella has a vodka trifle, but i think it would be quite potent.

amaretto is lovely in a trifle, esp if you crush amaretti biscuits in , fruit wise i usually do rasps, but cherries would work with the almondy flavour.

yes nigella has vodka, raspberry and lemongrass trifle and its yum! not too strong either, alcohol wise. i would try vodka with forest fruits..

Ooooh thanks everyone. Have just had a look in cupboard and found chambord which is (apparently) rasp liqueur reckon that will work a treat! Cointreau prob would too with orangey fruit Grin
