I am fed up to the back teeth of plain chicken breasts, etc, and want to start marinading, so the chicken/fish will be a bit more interesting to come home to..any ideas, pls?

tikka masala .. you can buy the spices and you just add yogurt

lime juice and a liberal sprinkling of dried chilli

garlic and worcester sauce

slice into a chicken breast and shove a load of boursin in then wrap in bacon .. and bake in silver foil .. not strictly marinading but fairly yum

puree fresh basil,
2 cloves garlic,
1 green chilli and
3 tablespoons olive oil in a processor.
Stir in grated zest and juice of half a lime. Season. I',s not as faffy as it sounds, and is delish.

Also combine 3 tablespoons vegetable oil ( I don't use quite that much) with
1 tablesp paprika,
1 teasp dried origano,
1 teasp thyme,
2 cloves crushed garlic,
some salt and pepper.

sounds good, franny - quantities, please?!?

Erm...not sure. A lot of soy sauce, 1 tsp mustard, tbsp paprika, splash lemon, tsp brown sugar and 1/2 clove garlic? Oh yes I forgot the sesame oil, say 2 tbsp? Taste it before you use it, it should be sort of tangy and sweet and spicy with a nice deep flavour from the soy and sesame.
