Tell me about snacks - when? Where?

DD is just a year old and has a great appetite. She currently has about 17oz milk a day (over 3 bottles) and a good breakfast, lunch and dinner. I'm aware that she'll most likely want to drink less milk over the coming months and will drop her 2.30 bottle at some point in the near future. I suspect that some days she'll want/ need (?) an afternoon snack but am not sure when or how she should have this. We try and encourage good habits so all her meals are in her highchair - do you use the highchair for snacks too? Do you have set 'snack time' or does it vary? How do you know when they actually need it? DD will eat pretty much anything you put in front of her at any time!!

I used to work it around the naps. A drink and a snack post afternoon nap seemed to work well providing an energy boost and some fluids. Didn't bother with highchairs for snacks... we had (still have) a little chair which was pulled up to the coffee table.

I was (and still am) a bit crap with snacks. I always forget until some other mum feeds their kid.

It tends to be about 11 and 3, like they do at ds' nursery. Like Cogito, snacks are by the coffee table (or wandering round the living room).

It doesn't have to be much, just somethign to take the edge off. Banana, rusk, raisins.

Thx for the tips. Think I will try and sort out a little chair for her and see how we get on.
