What's the grossest thing you've eaten by accident?

Just put these little stories on another thread but just wondered if anyone else had eaten/drank anything gross by accident. Or if it was just me and my family?!

When I was young, we had a flea-ridden cat and my mum found some little white eggs where he'd been on the sofa. She collected quite a few (about 30) and put them in a jar in the kitchen to see if they'd hatch (and de-flea'd our poor cat in the meantime) She didn't get the chance to find out though as my dad poured sugar in the jar to take to work to have for his tea...

Also when I was about 5 or 6 I left a carton of lemon drink on the windowsill. Found it the next day and took a big swig of it (it was the middle of summer) and could feel bits in it, hmmm, 'bits of orange?' I wondered?? No, about 50 drowned ants! They'd all crawled down the straw and met their demise..

ALSO.....When I was potty training ds he used to wee in any kind of container, I really should have remembered this when I finished off the dregs of his 'squash' one evening....is that the worst one??!!

I'm going to find out it's just me aren't I

I meant scratchings by the way.

nothing too gross but I was once in an indian restaurant and had a biryiani, in the vegetable 'sauce' was a brussel sprout. I'm not big lover of sprouts so it was quite a surprise, and not the best choice of vegetable IMO for indian food

Oh, mistressmiggins that happened to me too. Strawberry milkshake with a straw shaped like and elephant...Earwig in the mouth...argghhhh!

When I was little, my mum used to por fat from the roasting pan into yoghurt cartons to solidify. I mistook it for peanut butter and took a lovely big mouthful! Eurghh!

Not me but a friend. Used to give her DD Nutella on toast for b-fast. Cleaned her up one morning before lifting her out of high-chari. Noticed some more choc on DDs finger as lifted her out so sucked it off. Not Nutella. DD had pooed in nappy and managed to dip finger in!!!! Never saw friend move so fast to wash mouth out with washing-up liquid!

I found a grub of some kind in a packet of pistashio nuts unfortunately I had bitten half of it before realising. got sent a £5 voucher as compensation I then complained about that and got sent another £5 voucher!

I once tried a spicy chicken kebab from the chip shop and in one bite I had it was just like biting on one of those stress ball things - I spat it out and it was a mass of clear bubbles, think it was pure chicken fat it was so horrible.........

it was my first ever meat kebab and my last, I stick to salad ones now!

Oh yeah, also from a chinese takeaway, I opened the carton and there was a thick black hair lying on top of the food - I rang and told them, so they brought another but when it arrived I said I'll have a refund instead I feel sick now!

My dp also had an earwig in his straw I always look through straws now before using them!

  1. When I was a child I saw what looked like a box of biscuits on my grandmother's kitchen worktop. And it was. A box of dog biscuits.
  1. At uni I had a job at the library. We had a 15 minute coffee break in the mornings. One morning I was absolutely starving and used my 15 minutes to make a mad dash to my dorm room, where I kept a box of cookies. I didn't even turn the light on, I just raced into my room, got the cookies, reached into the box and started eating. They tasted odd. I turned the light on and discovered they were crawling with ants.

DS likes the guinea pig poo. Have thus far found two in his mouth. Yuck.

One Christmas, after doing the turkey, DH's Grandpa made the gravy using soapy water that was being used to soak the roasting pan... quite how he missed the bubbles is anybody's guess!

At least it was a clean feast!

fishie · 05/02/2006 23:27

when i was about 8 ate rabbit droppings thinking they were rice crispies, rabbit was loose in room and bowl had overflowed a bit - i was dreamily eating them. can still taste it bleughhhh

and a spider drowned in my glass of wine during a power cut, i half drank it, legs in my mouth like button thread.

Got a lovely veggie curry from the Jamaican takeaway. Tucked in only to find something hard. Spat it out - was a bone. A knuckle, to be precise. Yeeuck. Especially as the reason for choosing a veggie curry is that I am, actually, a vegetarian.

Also, once was 'encouraged' to try a rather odd soup served up by my mother's best friend. Since we were at her house, she'd cooked, and I was 10, I had to submit. Turned out to be snake. Little bits floating in it were snake skin. Have never, ever, been prepared to try anything I don't recognise since.

I was feeling particularly unwell one day and decided to take my temperature. It wasn't till afterwards that I realised I had accidently used my horses rectal thermometer!.......I washed my mouth out with disinfectant!

SleepyJess · 06/02/2006 00:29

Oh God.. not read whole thread yet.. only got to second post... but am in really quite grim mood tonight and have read all the (many) funny threads, appreciating the humour but not even cracking a smile..

Then I read Moondog's post re the post about the dog who ate the tights... PMSL.. dog crapping them out whilst toddler yanked to get them back faster... mental picture of dog attempting to run in mid crap with stretched out tights protruding from rectum with irate todller on other end... Oh my poor pelvic floor...

SleepyJess · 06/02/2006 11:58

(I killed this one too.. ... please carry on!!)
