Any thoughts about 'Low Fat' Crisps?

We don't eat many crisps (honest) but can anyone recommend any low fat ones ? Or are they all horrible? We aren't into exotic flavours- plain, salt and vinegar and/or cheese + onion will do?

imo either go cheap and cheerful or make your own, and making your own is as easy as you could want. Buy a mandolin, slice whatever fruit or veg you want, then bake it in a single layer for a few hours at 85 C til it dries out. That's it. It's a ridiculously easy way to get DS to eat a portion of just about any fruit or veg I want him to.

Walkers Sunbites are nice and reasonably low calorie/fat. Variety of flavours. I'm not personally keen on the walkers baked range though.

They're horrible. Either eat crisps once in a while or don't, but don't arse about with low fat ones, you'll only wonder why you bothered. Grin

Oh, I quite liked the Walkers Baked range - but sometimes they just don't hit the spot and you really crave the greasiness of a proper bag of crisps.

I can't be doing with the ones that are all sunflowery - too much sunflower oil makes me sick. And they're not necessarily low fat as such, just claim to have less saturated fat.

Best crisps in my opinion are walkers squares (esp salt and vinegar) and walkers french fries (esp worcester sauce). I like these better than non low fat crisps!

pom bears - lots of lovely flavours now e.g. bacon, prawn cocktail, cheese and onion, etc

This one www.scottsofstow.co.uk/Microwave-Crisp-Maker/Product1_22051_-1_137352_10551 claims only five minutes.

There are some new low fat crisps out now called Popchips. They are about half the fat content of 'normal' crisps. Really recommend the ready salted and salt and pepper flavoured ones. Only seen them in Waitrose though. I think they've been only been in the shops a matter of weeks.

they have a website here...

But Weightwatchers crisps are vile. Fortunately you only get about five crisps in the bag...

Thanks - popchips look interesting not seen them. Who has tried pizza flavour pombears?
