Pasta sauce ideas please

Im trying to get my weekly food bill down and would like to spend less time slaving in the kitchen a couple of nights a week. I have 2 fussy children but they both love pasta and it's not time consuming. I make a couple of sauces for them with hidden veg etc but I'm stuck on other combinations that myself and DH would enjoy and I could try out on the children. No seafood though pls. Any ideas? Thank you!

Do they like macaroni cheese type dishes? You can put loads of goodies in there - onions, peppers, ham and/or bacon, peas etc.

(Psst...I'm really here to see what others suggest 'cos I have a pasta mad teen who's fed up with bolognese & lasagne).

Depends what you're aiming for. but a few favourites over here:

Roasted cherry tomatoes (or bigger tomatoes cut in chunks) with a little olive oil an dbalsamic vinegar, garlic and mixed herbs (and chilli if you like). Mix with spaghetti. You can add any one or more of the following too if you like: fried bacon/avocado/goats cheese/feta cheese, steamed or grilled asparagus.

Fry thinly sliced courgettes in olive oil with lemon zest, garlic and chilli (optional).

Fry bacon/pancetta in a little olive oil. Add a splash of wine and let it bubble off. Stir in a spoon of creme fraiche/ cream cheese. Serve with parmesan.

Fry chunks of sausage in oil with fennel and garlic. Add lemon zest and a few chopped tomatoes. Also, if you like, some baby spinach. Add approximately 100ml each of white wine and milk and let it bubble off then stir in a large spoon of creme fraiche. Serve with parmesan, salt and pepper.

Mushrooms and garlic fried, then add creme fraiche or yoghurt for a simple mushroom sauce. Or add cream cheese for something cheesier. Cheats, but nice.

Roast tomatoes in olive oil and serve on pasta with pesto.

Fry some bacon & onion, add a tin of condensed chicken or mushroom soup & 'let down' with a little water to sauce consistency, add some sweetcorn & simmer. You can add some wholegrain mustard if the family like it.
