Steak and ale pie?

I feel sure this is a silly question, but here we go anyway...

I am intending to bake my first ever pie this weekend, and the obvious choice [for us!] is steak and ale. However, it has just occurred to me that can my 17 month old DS eat it? I mean, with the ale in it will it be ok because of the alcohol? The recipe calls for the beef, ale and stock to simmer in the oven for a couple of hours if that makes any difference?

To be honest, he's not a fantastic eater so it's not like he'll wolf it down, I was mainly planning on just giving him some of the filling with some veg.

So is it a silly idea to give him some steak and ale pie or am I being silly for worrying about it?

Yep yep! The alcohol is cooked off so (even if it does taste boozy at all) it's perfectly fine :) my DS (5) loves them!
