Would you eat this chicken?

I cooked a chicken yesterday afternoon and, after having some hot for tea, put it into the microwave, (away from the cat!) to cool intending to put it into the fridge before I went to bed. This morning realised it was still in the microwave! Have put it into the fridge now but will it be ok to eat - was intending to eat the rest of it cold. What would you do?

No way would I risk it. All those changes in temp is just an orgy for bacteria

Chilenachica · 27/03/2012 16:58

Lucky cat, I'm sure their digestive systems could cope with it, but I wouldn't risk it on a human.

Catsmamma · 27/03/2012 17:01

Assuming your kitchen is not that hot, I'd eat it! Nice salty chicken sandwich!!

AM always forgetting I have left things to cool in the microwave and having to put them in the fridge next morning.

karmakameleon · 27/03/2012 17:06

I would eat it too. Alternatively, if you're worried, make soup, risotto or other hot left over chicken dish.

NettoSuperstar · 27/03/2012 17:13

I'd eat it, but if you are worried then serve it hot.

Agree with karma

Youd all honestly eat cooked chicken thats been left in a microwave all night, just festering away in its own chickeny moistness Shock

Ive got a cast iron stomach but thats just asking for the squits!

TerrierMalpropre · 27/03/2012 17:24

I wouldn't risk it but in Ye Olden Days people used to store cooked chickens etc in larders/pantries didn't they? (without refrigeration).

colditz · 27/03/2012 17:24

I personally would gobble it up, as that's how I cool a chicken anyway. I've never been ill and neither have the children.

Thomcat · 27/03/2012 17:24

Would and have yes.

sparkle12mar08 · 28/03/2012 11:26

The problem for me would be that it would have cooled too slowly in such an enclosed space, recipe for bacteria. I'd have been happier to eat it had it have been on the owrksurface covered by a food net.

My OH cooked a pie in the oven and then turned the oven off without taking the pies out. The next day he took the pies out and microwaves them and ate them! I wouldn't have done but he wasnt ill or anything and he seemed to enjoy then

Yes, I'd eat it. I must have a cast iron stomach Grin.
