Help! 6 friends for diner tomorrow-Need easy starter please!

I have a close friend and 5 others coming to supper tomorrow night.She suffered a stillborth less than a month ago and tomorrow will be her first night out-we are etermined to haev a fun evening and loads of laughs because she needs it but boy do I need help.
Ia m doing beef bourginonne (sp?)with broccoli and mash for main course,a friend is bringing pud but I need an easy starter....

Any ideas?

my standard-parma ham and melon! or small pieces of goats cheese, covered in pesto baked in frozen puff pastry-v.easy and tasty.

You could also fill them with rice.

Would go really well with your main.

buy nice pate from delicatessen an serve with redcurrant jelly and oatcakes small salad on plate too - easy peasy,

squares of ready rolled puff pastry,smear with pesto in the middle[leave about 2cms border all round in which the pastry will rise and form a mini flan..add 2 slices of beef tomato and then couple of slices of mozzarrella on top, sprinkle of dries herbs or use fresh basil leaves once they`ve cooked ..which is about 15 mins at gas mark6..very quick and easy and always goes down well
