Hi All,

I have a pregnant friend and her partner coming over this weekend for a meal and I am lacking in inspiration for gluten free options - can anyone suggest something yummy?!

I do a classic roast dinner for my mum (GF, though not coeliac). Doves farm gluten free flour has made very acceptable chocolate brownies and lemon drizzle cakes for afters too. And gravy can be thickened with cornflour.

Risotto, paella, any rice dish really. Just watch the stock cubes are gf if you use any. Thai food, indian (without the nans) are pretty much gf.

To start, maybe some soup or a tomato and mozzarella salad. To finish, a pannacotta, or choc brownie (without flour).

Coeliac Uk do some nice recipes.

I too do the roast for my Mum. she's GF rather than coeliac and is fine with Bisto best gravy Smile
If not something rice based works well rather than pasta, although you can get GF pasta.
Desserts are usually fruit based with ice cream/meringue etc. Mousses are good too. Can do crumble with GF flour.

Decide what you would like to cook and then make it glutenfree - it's not difficult once you get your head round it, and many classic dishes are already naturally glutenfree. As Nightlark says thicken gravy with cornflour and use Doves Farm glutenfree flour to make any "sponge" type puddings - it works incredibly well.

Lots of ideas here: allrecipes.co.uk/recipes/tag-5635/gluten-free-dinner-party-recipes.aspx

Thanks all - just realised the Nigella Lawson cloud cake that I make is gluten free so will do that for pudding and just need to think of a main course!
