Got beef

put in pan of water and gravy stuff

peeled carrots, potaotes and onion

Stuck that in there too.

How do i know when the beef is cooked? How long should it take to cook? Do i need to put anything else in? What have I undoubtably done wrong?

(I was guedding thats how you make it!)

Glad it went down well

I have just put 3.5 casseroles in the oven!!! There are two big chicken casseroles (one for my parents who are babysitting tonight; one for DH and friend's DH tomorrow night), a mini chicken casserole (for the two girls) and a veggie casserole (for me and friend)

Hula... what did you put in your veggie casserole?

I've done a beef casserole for the family and a quorn one for DD1 who is veggie, but would be interested in your veggie one.

TIA

I just do vegetables, no quorn. I use exactly the same veg for both (easier!) but use veggie stock for the non meat one.

I usually use:

  • onion
  • potato
  • sweet potato
  • celery
  • parsnip
  • squash
  • carrot
  • swede
  • mushrooms (left quite chunky)

I then serve it with either Yorkshire puddings or crusty bread.

Oh, forgot - I then throw in some herbs (fresh or dry, whatever I have), a sprinkle of black pepper (but no extra salt), veggie stock (water/cubes) and a splash of Henderson's Relish (like Worcestershire sauce). Sometimes add some wine as well.

Then I cook it for 1.5-2 hours minimum normally, same as the meat ones.

Thank you muchly. I'll see how she goes with a purely veg one next time.

Dh wants stew again

I have to peel more potaotes

I am not really that kind of wife - the peeling potatoes kind...

Oh I don't normally put potatoes in - just cook new potatoes to go along side or dh will do mash.

Tamba - do jacket potatoes with it
