is is possible to use chipolatas and also add vegetables to the batter as well? any tips?

Yes to chipolatas. Actually I prefer to use the smaller sausages as they don't take so long to cook
What veg were you thinking of putting in the batter? I haven't tried putting veg in as well but it's a good idea. I would try sliced red onions, mushrooms, sliced peppers, not veg that would go mushy like tomatoes. I would precook the veg with the sausages to cook them a bit and get a nice flavour to them. I might also add a bit of dried sage to the batter too........ooh I am getting excited at all the new possibilities!! Enjoy!

Oh I'm making it now. I always use chipolatas, but have never tried putting veg in. I'm not sure that would work but give it a try and tell us what happens!

I've put mushrooms I'm before and it was really good.

Went with delias toad in hole with roast onion gravy. Eaten far too much!
