Alternative to chickpeas?

I did this moroccan chicken stew recipe a few weeks ago and while I really liked it, I discovered that I don't like chickpeas. Would any other pulses do?

I'd think that any bean would be ok. I'd use the paler ones like butterbeans.

Yes, butterbeans are lovely, and cook very quickly compared to chickpeas.

I also like black-eyes beans, and haricot.

Tbh you could even chuck lentils in and it'd be delicious with those spices.

I've never cooked anything with lentils, but I like the idea. What sort and how many and how long will they need to be in the stew for, please?

Lentils cook quite rapidly, so I chuck them into a stew about 15 minutes from the end.
