Could you make red velvet cake and use green food colouring instead of red? Also, colouring pastes work much better than the liquid.

(too bad you said no Guinness, I have an amazing chocolate Guinness cake recipe)

Thank you for the red velvet suggestion. I shall give it ago also handy for people who do not drink.
As your Guinness recipe is amazing pls share it. Grin

Chocolate Stout Cake

And because you cook the Guinness (first on the stovetop with the butter, and then baked in the oven) all the alcohol burns away and it is fine for people who don't drink! It doesn't taste like Guinness, the stout amps up the chocolate and the whole thing is just really intensely chocolatey. The sour cream keeps it super moist and tender and it's great with fresh raspberries.

Ohhhhhhh that looks divine and will give it a go this year. I don't have that particular tin do you think an 8 inch tin will do?

I actually just made this tonight myself! Yes an 8 inch tin will work - I doubled the recipe and it fit perfectly in two 8 inch tins. Just make sure you butter and paper the tins, then butter the paper, and when it's done let it cool completely in the tins, otherwise bits will break off. It also took loads longer in my oven than the recipe says...

Today's King Arthur Flour blog is Irish cream cupcakes...

"I'm only making these to use up that leftover Baileys from Christmas."
