Have you got this book? I am considering getting it, but not sure..... could you please tell me a few things you have made from it that you would recommend, then I'll get a feel if it is the kind of baking I would like :)

Yes, I have it. Love it. Along with British Baking by Peyton and Byrne, it's my go-to baking book.

I've made:

apple & custard cake
saucy monkey pudding (buttery bananas and brazil nuts covered in a gooey chocolate sponge)
aubergine and lentil pies
soda bread

I like it because it's not all sweet stuff, but includes things like pies (I ate them all).

It's not all conventional stuff (use a Mary Berry book for that), but full of yummy treats nonetheless.

I want to try Weetabix muffins next...
