does anyone make their couscous with cold water? Is it ok?

as far as I know, you need the hot water otherwise it doesn't go soft.

I'm prepared to be corrected though....

i'd imagine it would take ages to soak with cold water. So, no.

I think it needs to be hot. Couscous is basically a type of pasta, it still needs to be cooked.

I use boiling water and a stock cube,dont boil it up just let it stand then add stuff as desired.

if you make it with cold water (bringing it to boil from cold) it will go mushy.
you should just pour over boiled water, wait 5 mins then add a spoonfull of oil or butter and stir.

thank you. I had couscous last night at a Pampered Chef party and as far as i could see, the 'chef' used cold water. It tasted delicious. I'm going to have to ask aren't I?
