divamummy · 10/03/2006 20:18

top is brown already not firm almost hard, i checked it with chopstick and its still like batter.
everybody said they done well:( not me
btw, i mixed the butter and sugar at about 3 oclock dd started crying and climbing onto me so i left it untill 7, does that make it bad???

Nbg · 10/03/2006 20:21

I don't see why the mixture would be bad.
I once made it mid afternoon, ended up going out and cooked it later that evening.

Are you sure it's like batter?

I normally use a 2lb loaf tin for mine so anything around that size will be fine.

8-9 inches round cake tin> not sure only guess
is it ok if check again, you can tell im not domestic goddess Blush i shall cut the crusty top and pour the lemon Shock

Nbg · 10/03/2006 20:25

Hmmmm

maybe the tin is too small. Is it too late to chop the top off and put into 2 tins?

Haven't had a good old Lemon Drizzle thread for ages

JackieNo · 17/08/2006 15:29

That reminds me that Waitrose Food Illustrated mag had a recipe for Lemon Drizzle cake recently, but done as a sponge, with a filling of mascarpone and lemon curd. Also a variation that sounded rather good: crusty orange and cointreau slices - replace the lemon in the recipe with orange zest and juice, and at the end mix 100g demerara sugar with 50ml cointreau and 50ml orange juice, and pierce and drizzle as normal. Haven't tried it, but sounded rather nice.

MarsLady · 17/08/2006 18:25

sounds nice indeed.
