In American Measurements, for each cup of flour, you need to add 2 tsp of baking powder.

ScoffedTooManyMaccyDsLady · 26/01/2006 20:02

ooh... let's see what sunchowder suggests!

I'm just back from MacDonald's myself. lol

Nbg · 26/01/2006 20:05

So whats the equivilent of a cup to an oz/g?

OP posts:
sunchowder · 26/01/2006 20:09

Hang on ....sorry, let me do my conversion...

sunchowder · 26/01/2006 20:12

1 cup [US] = 0.946 352 95 cup [metric] Still looking shit up, hang on.

sunchowder · 26/01/2006 20:13

1 cup [US] = 8 ounce [US, liquid] still screwing around here...

Nbg · 26/01/2006 20:13

You star

OP posts:
sunchowder · 26/01/2006 20:14

1 ounce [US, liquid] = 1.040 842 735 ounce [UK, liquid]

1 Teaspoon [US] = 1.387 790 314 Teaspoon [UK]

So....if you can do all that you can make the damn cake!!!

sunchowder · 26/01/2006 20:15

Ahhh thanks NBG

Nbg · 26/01/2006 20:17

So it's 9oz flour which would mean just 2 tsp of baking powder?

Sounds right to me.

Won't it taste weird though because the cake already requires 3 tsps of the stuff anyway?

OP posts:
sunchowder · 26/01/2006 20:19

The most I would put in would be 1 1/4 teaspoons of powder.

Nbg · 26/01/2006 20:20

and the 3 it asks for?

No more questions now, promise

OP posts:
ScoffedTooManyMaccyDsLady · 26/01/2006 20:20

nah!

the baking powder is to make it lighter and help it rise.

if it tastes bad...... just buy SELF-RAISING flour next time [evil laugh]

sunchowder · 26/01/2006 20:20

Just because it already as the 3 in ityou know? I hope this cakes comes output the 2 in if you feel confident--up to you. Wish I was there!

Nbg · 26/01/2006 20:24

Right just 2 tsps of baking powder going in then.

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Head explosion!

Thank you very much SC

OP posts:
ScoffedTooManyMaccyDsLady · 26/01/2006 20:25

I hope you are doing the original 3 tsp?????????

sunchowder · 26/01/2006 20:25

Welcome, any time!!

SoupDragon · 26/01/2006 20:26

If you look on the pot of baking powder, it usually tells you how much to add to plain flour.

sunchowder · 26/01/2006 20:27

5 altogether.

Nbg · 26/01/2006 20:27

Oooh don't confuse me!

So put in 2 tsp for the flour and the original 3. Yes?

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 26/01/2006 20:28

Yes
