9m old stops eating when shes done a poo

I wonder if anyone else has had this.

My 9m old DD has been eating dinner at the table with us for about 3 months, and is usually eating most of the time we are. However recently she stops eating, strains to do a poo then won't continue her meal. It means shew eating far less and needs changing while we're eating (grim).

I realise her gut may get going we she starts eating, one in, one out kind of thing, but is there anything I can do to help her?

I'd change her, wash hands and then bring her back to the table.

I wouldn't want to eat whilst sitting in poo either - that's got to be more grim Wink

I don't think there's much else you can do. DD went through a stage of pooing just after we'd put her to bed - regardless of the time (nap time, bed time, late bed time, early bed time) so we just changed her and put her straight back down.

Ah fliss I fear you are right.
Sigh

Yeah, DS did this too. We'd put the plates down on the table, sit down and watch with dismay as his little face would go red and that crease would appear between his eyebrows. You have to change them, or you're basically sitting at the dinner table with someone who has shit themself, which Just Isn't Nice.

I do agree that by the time you get back to your cold dinner you don't really feel like eating any more. Take it in turns.

Can I borrow her? I find it's a great diet plan Grin

You just need to change her and bring her back to the table - she'll most likely start eating again.

Yeah we had this for a while too and agree with the others, I wouldn't want to eat my tea if my pants were full of shit either Grin.

If its really bothering you, you could try her in something like a door bouncer for 10 mins a bit before she eats. See if that will bounce it out of her before she sits down.....
