DH bought home a couple of bags of shopping from M&S the other night with some foodie goodies in them:

  1. pots of rice pudding with rhubarb compote ....can't stop yearning after the taste - they were wonderful! We had them heated up - omg so yummy. Rice pudding thick, creamy and sweet. Rhubarb bountiful, pink and nicely tart.

  2. brewed non alcoholic elderflower 'beer'. I stopped drinking over 3 years ago but often miss the taste of more grown up drinks (soft drinks are often so sweet and one dimensional). This has a really nice brewed flavour and is ligthly carbonated, giving a beery taste without the booze.

Also tried Oreos for the first time this week and I can see a serious addiction coming on!

Huevos - try that as a salad dressing for the beetroot and some flaked smoked mackerel, with rocket, tomatoes, and some lightly steamed broccoli. It's heavenly.

Blastoff
for three peppers, just 20 secs or so, just to melt the cheese. I prop them upright in a little ramekin so the cheese won't run out. Will try feta now!

We've been having maple syrup on a lot of things lately (rather like that scene out of Elf :o). The best use yet is maple syrup drizzled (well sloshed more like!) over butternut squash. I then mix in a handful of lardons and bake in a hot oven for about 25 mins.
