What is this Chinese spice?

I had the most fabulous Sichuan hot pot in a restaurant last night and would love to have a go at cooking my own. It definitely had sichuan peppercorns and coriander seeds in but there was also a spice that looked like a green Sichuan peppercorn and tasted faintly citrus. Anyone know what it might be?

It's most likely a fresh green peppercorn. They're spicy but milder than a dried black/red/white peppercorn. It's usually the coriander seeds that have the citrus flavour.

I think you might be right. Thanks!
