French Toast

Is French toast really 'eggy bread'??

Had it for brekkie at Cafe Rouge with strawberries, bananas, blueberries and honey and it was lush.

Is it easy to make, any tips?

Yes it's the same thing. You don't really need a recipe. Stale-ish white bread, leave to soak in beaten egg for ten mins, fry in hot oil on both sides, dust with icing sugar (my DCs like it with bacon, no sugar)
Easy!

For two slices of pain perdu, the French version of French toast, so to speak:

  • A beaten egg mixed with a couple of tablespoons of milk
  • Add a pinch of cinnamon (if you like that) and a pinch of brown sugar
  • Soak the bread in the mix
  • Fry in butter

I like to spread mine with syrup.

Yum yum yum. Tis actually my most recent addiction I can't stop myself making it. Go easy on the cinnamon as if you put too much it is really overpowering.
