We decided not to go out so want to cook a really nice meal, as we have bickered loads this last week and I want to have a specila night.

I am working today (although at home so could do some pottering this afternoon) so needs to be speedy. Was thinking maybe steak as never cook much meat, but what with it? Maybe should do full 3 course thing so easy peasy speedy starters and puds welcome too.

Need inspiring by all you donestic goddesses out there!

Melon for starters, with grapes and ginger wine poured over it.

Fry the steaks on both sides with an onion for 1 min, then add gravy, herbs and seasoning, with a dash of red wine and simmer for 5 mins.

Serve with chips and asparagus (to nibble slowly and lovingly!)

Posh ice-cream for afters.

My dh likes steak and chips and tinned asparagus! Or you could do a nice suace to go with the steak. I have a few ideas written down somewhere.

Steak sounds good Rhubarb, bought gravey or made? Home made chips?

Hate melon though (I know I'm odd) but just got excited about goats cheese, any ideas on that one!!

Warm goats cheese served on toast with a side salad.

Gravy granules. Home-made chips are a must, they taste so much nicer! Fry them in Virgin Olive Oil for the best results, and cut them skinny!

Cut the toast into a circle and lightly grill the goats cheese on top - lovely and sexy!
